It’s Been A While…

…since I’ve posted anything here.  I’ve been pretty busy lately, especially at work.  I’ve assumed some duties from a co-worker who’s now since retired, and girl, is it a lot of work!  But I’ve got no complaints…so far.  Okay, maybe except that it’s kept me from working on this blog.  However, I do have some giveaways to share with you on my sister blog.  Since that blog doesn’t require me to write essays, that one’s been more updated than here.

I think there’s like 5 or 6 giveaways going on right now…why not go check them out and enter one, some, or all?  There are some FABULOUS prizes to be won!

Geno? Gino? Gee, No I Don’t Know

Last month we adopted a little girl named Izzie.  She’s the most playful, daring, unfazed kitty in the world.  Since then we’ve adopted a brother for her.  The lil’ guy is just 2.5 months old and he’s a handsome orange, mackeral-striped tabby with spots on his belly.

We adopted him from Joey’s Feline Friends, which has a spot in the Pearl City Petco.  He was found, along with his 4 siblings, in the Kapolei Costco parking lot, either abandoned by careless owner, or orphaned.  They were all fostered since they were found and their foster mom did a fantastic job at raising them.

He is super friendly and doesn’t mind being held and cuddled, as evidence by Joonyer’s firm grip on him.

When we adopted him, the name he was given was Genie.  Don’t know about you, but to me it sounds like a pretty girl’s name.  Even Jeenerz thought it was a girl’s name and we both thought he was a girl before we knew better.

So as not to confuse anyone else, we decided to change his name.  Nothing drastic, I like to keep it simple and not change too much, so we (or I did really) decided to change the ‘ie’ in his name to ‘o’.  But I’m not sure if Geno might be mispronounced as ‘je-no’ by others, when it should be ‘jee-no’.  ’Gino’ is the more conventional spelling, but even though I like simple, non-drastic, I also like a name with a unique spelling.

Let’s Go Holoholo

Let’s go what?  Holoholo?  What does that mean, you might wonder.

Well, in Hawaii,  holoholo means to go out, leisurely cruising around, usually in the car.  Or in general, just to go out and enjoy.  And since the weekend’s here my family and I have plans to go to the waterpark on Saturday for a day of wet, wild, fun.

We purchased an annual pass for each member and are making sure we get our money’s worth.  Last weekend the girls had fun with their dad going down the giant, green slide over and over and over again, while I just sat under the trees and relaxed.  But this time, I’m expected to share in their fun down that slide. So….

For the public schools and many of the private ones it has where I live.  They had spring break last week, but I know of at least one private school where spring break comes next week.
