Shopping at Coastal Scents online on this Cyber Monday has been a PAINFUL experience. Not only is there a lot the things I wanted sold out, but also the website is EXTREMELY SLOW to load. It took me over an hour just to get less than 10 items into the shopping cart, and as of this writing I’m waiting for the checkout process to be completed. It’s been about 20 minutes and I’ve been sitting on the same webpage while it’s trying to load the shipping options for my area.
Oh thank the lord. Now I can move on to the next step. Let’s see how long it takes to accept (or not) my payment info. Been 2 minutes and still waiting…
…and while I’m waiting…..it’s Cyber Monday obviously and Coastal Scents is having a 50% off sale on their entire website, with a few exceptions of course, and so I, like gazillions of other shoppers, decided to get in on it.
Shoops, after 4 minutes, checkout is finally complete and my order in, waiting to be processed.
So anyhow, yeah, if not for the 50% off I probably wouldn’t have bought anything from Coastal Scents even though I’ve been wanting to for a while now. I’m always hesitant to pay full price for something I’ve never tried, and can’t see or touch in person before buying even if they reasonably priced compared to similar higher-end product. So all in all even though it took forever (or so it seemed) to complete my purchase, I think I got a pretty good deal.

Well folks the day when retailers hope to get back into the black has come and gone. Did you partake in any of the sale frenzy either online or in-store or maybe even both?
I admit to following all the hype. I chose to only shop online and I did 2 major hauls, first at abbamart and the other at Darling Girl Cosmetics. I did a third, but smaller haul at Sugarpill Cosmetics. I have carts at a couple of other indie companies that I plan to complete my purchases with in the next day or so.

Last month I won a giveaway from Susan at Darling Girl Cosmetics, which included a one-off aqua liner and 27 samples of her loose eye shadows.
The aqua liner is a liquid eyeliner and I posted a mini review & swatch entry here.
This entry is all about the shadows. I haven’t swatched all the shadows yet, but from what I have swatched (which is 10 so far, but only 1 in this entry), let me tell you….they’re DA BOMB! They’re either very metallic and/or super shimmery/sparkly, and I believe that the most, if not all, of my samples will be of the same variety rather than matte/satin. (A quick check at DG’s website doesn’t show any matte/satin shadows in the inventory, but I think she might have a couple that are very close to being matte.) Some are SOOOO sparkly under natural lighting they’re like bling-bling for your eyes!

So let’s get right to it.
Official description: kind of sheer iridescent taupe with a gold/copper shift. Through the baggie it doesn’t seem like it would be sheer or iridescent, but it definitely is. Of the 10 colors I swatched so far, this one has to be the BLINGIEST of them. It’s like looking at a jeweled brooch with hundreds of tiny diamonds, it’s that sparkly.

This shadow, in my opinion, would work best with a sticky base so that all sparkly goodness has something to adhere to and not fall out all over your face, and to give it some staying power.
I could sit out under the sun and admire the sparkles in this shadow all day long if it wasn’t so hot out. Wonder if I could pull off wearing it like a ring on my finger if I apply it over some glitter fix or other sticky base? Hmmmm….
Uh, what the shiz? My 8-yr old CHILD received this note on Monday from boy classmate…um, hold up boy aren’t you a little young to be wooing my just as young daughter?
I can’t believe how bold kids are nowadays to write such things and actually have the courage to give a note to the person they’re sweet on.
Granted it’s nice that a boy likes my daughter, but it’s scary….they’re TOO YOUNG.
I guess I’m gonna have to advise my kid to be careful and maybe give her a ‘simplified’ version of that ‘birds and bees’ talk soon. Or do you think she’s still too young for it?
