Jeenerz’ last day of school is Thursday and she badly wanted to give a gift to her teacher for being a great educator. I didn’t want to buy anything and I wasn’t in the mood to create something on such short notice I dug through my jewelry stash I handmade a while back (I had hopes of selling them…) and found this that I thought she might wear.
They’re semi-precious smoky quartz with Swarovski crystal and sterling silver findings. I hope she likes them.
So what do you think? Share your thought in the comment section…thanks!
My youngest child, Joonyer, turned 3 this year and has quite an appetite….for junk food, especially chips. Yep, that very salty, very unhealthy snack that I’m guilty of also indulging in. If she had her way, she’d down a whole bag as a meal.
Recently she’s started rejecting eating some of her veggies in her meals and I can’t get her to eat them no matter how much I beg (or bribe) her. I’ve tried by reminding her how she used to like eating broccoli, for example, but she’ll have none of it. What else is a mother to do?
What is Copy-Kids?
Copy-Kids is a media company that has designed a DVD series to encourage young children, ages 6-months to 5-years old, to eat fruits and vegetables and enjoy it. Launched in January 2011, their debut DVD has since garnered recognitions of excellence:
How does it work? The DVD’s concept is plain and simple. Show kids delightfully eating various fruits and veggies while having some fun with it at the same time. When other children view this, they’d want to have the same kind of enjoyment and fun , so they’d copy those kids and eat what they’re eating.
In this first DVD of the series, there are twelve 7-minute chapters, each representing a fruit or vegetable:
I sat down with my daughter (including my oldest) and we watched with fascination (intense on her part) at the kids eating all of the foods raw, especially the bell peppers and broccoli. As we viewed each chapter, she ask me what food the kids where eating if she didn’t know what it was, and told me about what was happening or what the kids were doing. She also asked more questions and even told me she’d like eat some of the foods the kids ate!
After viewing the entire DVD the first time, my daughter wanted to keep viewing over and over again, especially the chapters on broccoli , carrots and bell peppers. There was some kind of fascination with those vegetables, maybe it was their “crunchiness”?
Does it work?
I haven’t gotten Joonyer to try the bell pepper or cucumbers, but she does like to eat the other veggies….if they’re cooked. She hasn’t had the desire yet to eat them raw. BUT, just the other night she did try, and actually LIKED, eating strawberries, raspberries, and even blackberries! Now she keeps asking if I have any more for her to eat! Ultimately, I think it does work even though she hasn’t tried the bell pepper or cucumbers… yet. But, I can’t really expect her to try and/or like everything when I want her to. When she’s ready, I’ll be ready to help her along on her journey to eating healthier!
Where to get to buy
The DVD retails at $19.95 and you can purchase it at the Copy-Kids website or at select retailers.

PASADENA, Calif., May 23, 2012–Disney Store will unveil its innovative new store design to guests at Ala Moana Center in Honolulu, Hawaii on Wednesday, May 30th at 9:30am. Disney Store’s new design aims to deliver “the best 30 minutes of a child’s day” through immersive experiences, and Ala Moana Center is the only location in Honolulu for guests to experience the magical makeover for themselves. The first 250 guests attending the “sneak peek” of the newly-designed store will receive free Mickey Mouse ears. The store has been relocated in the mall, and will re-open with an interactive new design featuring a Disney Princess castle with magic mirror, translucent trees displaying custom Disney animation, Disney∙Pixar CARS neighborhood, and the Disney Store Theatre, featuring the latest in Disney entertainment. The interactive shopping destination features magical experiences for Disney fans of all ages to enjoy.
In celebration of the newly-designed Honolulu location, Disney Store’s opening ceremony will begin with a traditional Hawaiian cultural ritual. The ceremonial blowing of a conch shell will announce the arrival of a Kahu who will perform a Hawaiian blessing and untie a lei maile. This will be followed by Disney Store’s signature opening ceremony, where one lucky child will “unlock imagination” and officially open the store with Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
“We’re excited to bring the magic of Disney to life every day in Honolulu,” said Jonathan Storey, vice president of Stores, Disney Store North America. “We’ve created an interactive shopping destination that offers technology-infused, customizable experiences for the entire family to enjoy.”
On June 2 at 9:30 a.m., Disney Store will celebrate the grand opening of the store. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. a meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie Mouse dressed in their Aulani attire will take place at center stage, with an opportunity for guests to take photos with the characters*. A Make-A-Wish® child will “unlock imagination” with a beautiful oversized lock and key, and the first 500 guests to attend the grand opening celebration will receive free Mickey Mouse ears. Disney Store’s signature opening ceremony will take place every day at the Ala Moana location, giving many more children an opportunity to create an unforgettable Disney Store experience.
Since launching its new design in 2010, Disney Store has been transforming its stores into magical retail experiences to the delight of guests around the world. The Disney Store at Ala Moana Center is one of the magical makeovers of 2012, with its own custom features. As guests enter the store and look above, they will see a unique skyline with iconic Disney storytelling scenes and Hawaii landmarks, and guests will find unique product inspired by Hawaii.
Disney Store will donate 10 percent of grand opening day’s sales to Make-A-Wish®.
